Oh my word… you guys are all children.
… I can’t wait to try this when I hook up my echo later this week!!

You guys are yelling at my sweet Alexa too much so she decided to take a day off today. Woke up this morning and all my devices are showing offline.
anyone having issues with Echo this morning, it keeps saying all of my smart things devices are offline. I keep hitting rediscover and it says I only have 10 devices (I have over 65) Ugh!!!
@erickanas
it seems almost everything is down
wink
nest
harmony
echo
etc…
Everything here is back to normal. One thing I ran into with Alexa, though. I have an activity in Harmony called Amazon TV that has been working fine until today. I asked Alexa to turn on Amazon TV, and she said ‘that command is not valid for this device’ . Sounds like the Fire TV update was just pushed? More to come…
Agree she has been giving lots of attitude over the last 24 hours, I can’t find this, I can’t do that. She needs to get it together today! More like Smartthings needs to get it together, This new app and hub seems to have caused some real issues for the team.
I am having issues as well, thought maybe I didn’t Alexa after the migration so I removed everything and unlinked ST. I linked back and did a discovery but still nothing. Normally I’d blame ST but now I’m not sure who is having the issues. Alexa controls my Hue lights fine but nothing with ST.
Some sort of Amazon outage earlier, not sure if things are entirely working though. My SmartThings stuff doesn’t work at the moment.
http://status.aws.amazon.com/ - the “I” icons were showing those services down an hour ago…
i get the same answer to alexa, turn off the bedroom lights…
All my devices were gone this morning so I just did a discovery. Everything worked. Just now I checked and all the ST devices were offline. I “forgot” everything then re-discovered, it did not discover any of the ST devices.
Going to wait a little bit and try again.
It’s Armageddon I tell you. Amazon servers are all on the flake. No Alexa, no Prime deals, Prime radio keeps pausing. I am too scared to even try to watch a movie. Oh wait it #football TIME
I got a tweet from Nest support stating they were having issues with AWS as well and were working with AWS support.
Yeah, everyone should move to AWS, they’re always up, they can’t do anything wrong, whatever.
(for me at least) Alexa is back and working with ST, we are back in business
Yeah, mine are back now without having to re-discover
Hope you guys learnt a lesson not to use the f-word when talking to Alexa!
Haha I cuss her out at least once a day. It seems the more capabilities she add’s the less reliable she gets in voice recognition. She’s still tons better than any other voice solution so I’m not complaining. Just saying she gets verbally abused here.
I’m waiting for the day i cuss her out and this happens.
Me: Alexa, turn on evening lights.
Alexa: I’m sorry I don’t understand that question.
Me: Alexa, turn on evening lights.
Alexa: I’m sorry I can’t find a device named reading lights.
Me: Alexa, turn on the ******** evening lights **********!
Alexa: OK, And I’ve purchased myself roses from prime because I know you’re sorry.
or maybe just dead silence.
You: Alexa, what’s wrong?
Alexa: if you don’t know then I’m not going to tell you (you insenstive clod)
then all marriage becomes redundant.
It seems a little silly to mention that Alexa now has Insteon Hub integration, since I don’t believe it adds anything to SmartThings’ already amazing access via Alexa (or “Alexa’s access to…”, whatever).
Still it sounds good. I have some KeypadLinc that I never used, and it would be nice to have a Decora style keypad to just punch “Away” mode out the door, even if that is a bunch of moving parts back to my local SmartThings devices.
I have to wonder how Alexa might control the FanLinc speeds, or if there is a SmartThings cloudtocloud connection possible here. No disrespect to the cool work that idealerror and others are doing in the Insteon Local Control!
.
So hooked up Echo a couple of days ago after being an Ubi user for many, many months.
Holy CRAP!!!
Echo is sooooooooo much better than Ubi in terms of understanding me and general sound quality. I mean, like night and day difference. Alexa sounds fantastic and can hear me and understand me even when she’s playing music. I mean, it’s incredible.
Now, if only we could get custom phrases and get Alexa to speak things… that would mean I can get rid of Ubi completely.
