Amazon Echo just got IFTTT integration

Saw on Droid-life that Echo just got IFTTT ability.

Yeah, they’ve expanded their IFTTT channel, but the triggers are still mediocre

Item deleted on your To Do List
This Trigger fires every time you delete an item on your To Do List.

Ask what’s on your Shopping List

Well way to burst my bubble. That is certainly uneventful…lol.

Echo needs to add a few more triggers and ANY actions. There are ZERO actions that IFTTT can perform on Echo. Reading text might be nice.
On the same token, SmartThings needs to add more actions. Changing a mode might be nice.

#5

Using IFTTT to change a SmartThings mode is pretty easy–just use a virtual switch and Big Switch for Hello Home Actions. It’s not elegant (you have to have one virtual switch for each case), but it’s easy and works well.

@vitamincm! I can deal with lack of actions on Smartthings especially given @JDRoberts suggestions. Echo needs far more triggers. One can consume existing ones in a hurry. Duct tape and bailing wire belong on a car. Not in home automation…lol
