Alexa routines not triggering

I’m having this issue with physical devices linked via SmartThings. For example, I have a routine for Alexa to announce when a door is open. Alexa can see the device (door contact sensor) and is reporting the correct status but just doesn’t make the announcement. Furthermore, creating a new routine with same parameters also does not yield an announcement. So it seems the issue is strictly with the announcement portion of Alexa? I’ve tried power cycling Alexa.

Unfortunately, this has been happening on and off since the new skill was introduced in April. Not for everyone, and not all the time, but it doesn’t seem to be anything that we as customers customers can fix. And multiple reports that it just started happening again a few days ago.

Same here. All of my physical sensors and Alexa virtual switches are no longer triggering any of my Alexa routines. I just noticed it started yesterday, but it could have started a few days ago. I’ve even tried setting up a new test Alexa routine to trigger from a motion sensor, but it doesn’t work even though I see the motion sensor detect motion in the Alexa app. WOW!

Thanks JD, this is the first time I’ve had this issue. Hopefully it gets rectified soon.

A user in that thread posted using “Alexa, discover my devices” worked. I tried it and even though Alexa said no new devices discovered, the routines started firing again!
