Aeotec Smart Home Hub 2/Aeotec Smart Home Hub/ThingsOne/2018/2015 Model Hub Firmware Release Notes - 0.60.12

Not supported for Thread 1.3 devices.

It does, but you must have the Thread network working, if it has crashed like on our fridges you can’t hit the ā€œiā€ in the circle to show Thread Information. Reboot your fridge and quickly check it before the Thread Network crashes and you should see it at the very bottom.

Well, I rebooted my fridge hub so that the Thread radio would start working again and guess what I found…Thread 1.4!

Not only that, but now it has access to ā€œManage Thread networkā€ and I was able to unify the fridge Thread network with my Station’s.

That’s great to hear. I hope I don’t jinx it and it will stay running and not crash. I plan to do the same when my fridge updates. So far it’s my last hub out of 5 that has yet to receive this update.

Did you have to remove every device when unifying?

Would probably need to, but my fridge hub didn’t have any Thread devices as I moved all of them to my Station due to the Thread stack on the fridge freezing constantly.

I see, is there a way to trigger the update to my TV hubs? I have 2 and both are on the previous 58 version.

Sadly no, all hubs have to wait for their firmware to update on their own. The only way to force an update that I’ve seen is if your hub has a really old firmware (many people buying v3 hubs from ebay) and it won’t update due to old certifications only then can you get some of the admins on here to help you get that sorted out to force it to the latest update.

The only other way is to be a part of the BETA firmware club and it should force your hub to update to it when they are available, but Built-in-Hubs like on our TV’s, Soundbars, Stations, Washer/Dryer/Combos, Refrigerators, etc. are ineligible for these BETA firmwares. Not only that our Built-in-Hubs don’t always get the latest firmware everytime a firmware is released and it maybe a different version then what the main hubs get. Case in point most main hubs got 59.xx firmware before this 60.xx firmware and almost all Built-in-Hubs the latest firmware before they got this 60.xx firmware was 58.xx. So, Built-In-Hubs are known for skipping a firmware release or two. As for the mismatched firmware versions Built-In-Hubs like I said my also have different variants of the latest firmware. Example of this Main Hubs all got version 60.12, Stations got 60.13, and it looks like all other Built-in-Hubs got 60.14.

The good news I can say is since some of us are seeing our Built-in-Hubs updating, yours shouldn’t be too much behind (firmware releases are done in waves, kind of like how Google releases features for like Google Maps or Android Auto some may get the features before others). The biggest proof of this is h0ckeysk8er’s fridge has already got firmware 60.14, but mine is still 58.13 and my TV has been updated to 60.14, but yours is still 58.13. So, like I said give it time and yours should update soon. If it doesn’t update in about another 2-3 weeks from now for sure reach out to the admins and see what is going on, but as of right now all Built-in-Hubs firmware update waves are still being handed out.

I see, appreciate the response. Another question, what’s the cheapest thread hub I can buy, when it comes to built in one’s (and will have thread 1.4). Any of the ones I can think of seem to be for the most part absurdly expensive, compared to other ecosystems.

The cheapest Built-in-Hub if you can still find one will be the Samsung SmartThings Station (in North America mostly can only be found on eBay). It technically is an Appliance as it is a 15W wireless charger with one button. The button can be programed for automations; single press, press and hold, and double press. Side note the double press action is defaulted to ring your phone to find it if lost, but can be disabled and used for a different automation. The Station also has the capability to use it as a tracker for your mobile smart devices (again phone, smart tags, buds, watch, etc). One last thing about the Station it does have a fan built in to keep your device that is charging cool.

As for any other device with a Built-in-Hub ā€œmostlyā€ are high end flagship Samsung devices, the cheapest I would say would be a mid range TV or Computer Monitor. Samsung’s philosophy starting in 2023 was to introduce these hubs to all their consumers, and the newer the model year the more likely the lower end models will have one of these Built-in-Hubs. I can’t guarantee the device you want/purchase will have one (I do know of some certain models that can though as I’ve either had or have them or read about them).

Now if you want the cheapest and don’t care for it to be Built-in and/or can’t find a Station. I’d go with a V3 Aeotec/SmartThings Smart Home Hub V3 especially if you want Z-Wave as this is the only model still sold (I believe) to have it. If you don’t care about Z-Wave get a Aeotec/Thingsone Smart Home Hub V4 aka the latest standalone hub. These standalone hubs will update before the Built-in-Hubs, have the ability to use BETA Firmwares, and are much cheaper then an appliance. One last benefit is that you don’t have to worry if the appliance fails to keep a hub working.

Personally I think the station is a great product, and I would love to buy one, (and I absolutely would’ve a long time ago) but unfortunately it never came to Canada. Yeah there are third party sellers through ebay and others, but I just can’t justify overpaying for it. As for the aeotec hub, again I don’t understand why retailers don’t have these hubs, I have to order it through an authorized seller, but I’d have to pay for shipping. Prices for these hubs feel absurd, the station in my opinion was the only good one when it comes to price, I hope they come out with a v2.

Here is the list:

Thanks, just a FYI though this isn’t the full list. I believe this is the full list of 2023-2025 model year devices. But, it’s still missing the 2026 model year devices as I know for sure the S95H TV and the HW-Q990H Soundbar have Built-in-Hubs, but they don’t show up on the list. Also, my Refrigerator is a 2020 model year, is still sold today, and it’s not on the list. My Refrigerator does require a Dongle though for Zigbee & Matter over Thread (the dongle isn’t needed for Matter over Wi-Fi). So, the list also is missing these older model devices that required the dongle as well. Most people though will be buying newer model year devices, but if someone did get a older unit now they know it wasn’t just what on this list.

Even if it’s the actual same code base release, each new release gets a new number. So the Station 60.13 and the appliance 60.14 are likely the exact same code release but with different version numbers.

My hub also they said I never claim my hub but I’m on SmartThings since 2018 and use SmartThing ide to install devices after they remove ide and replace it with the new version with matter and driver since then almost all my devices are connected to alexa because samsung as lots of devices and matter devices when you install them always say account link but 0 devices the only thing samsung connected to samsung is tv speaker and multi sensor and caza smart plugs the rest event if samsung saying it’s compatible it almost never works they are killing smart home make your hub useless

The LIT option appeared but for some devices only. I guess it depends on whether they had to be factory reset recently or not. Looking at the descriptions I guess it’s better to not use it for smart buttons, I prefer quick actions.

Where do you see this option? In the mobile app or AWA.

In the AWA

Hello there,

Like many others, my devices have been unreliable since the latest update to my Samsung SmartThings Station. Several of my zigbee devices are just out of whack. Two devices in question are two GLEDOPTO ZigBee3.0 LED Controller Pro Smart Home 5 in 1 with Zigbee Light Multifunction MC drivers. My setup was fine since early March and only started to malfunction after this update.

The LQI has been consistent around 208 to 210 and they randomly power off that all random times early in the morning and midday. Most recently it’s been somewhere around 3:00 or 4:00 AM and I’ve tried turning the automations on and off and the same thing still happens.

The only automations I have for these controllers are three gradual brightening ones that gradually brighten the lights and change color temperature to an in between of soft and daylight. They also have an automation to limit the brightness to 50% since they are powering COB light strips that are plenty bright at 50%. Finally, the last two automations would be to start gradually changing the color temperature to a warmer white around sunset and then there is a late night automation to dim the lights to about 3% so they’re in night light mode. Then the automations start over again in the morning with gradual brightening and color temperature change.

Prior to the hub update, everything was fine. And suddenly they’re actually turning back on by themselves at random intervals as well. For instance today they powered off at 3:21 AM and back on at 7:05 AM. The last of the three automations is set for 7:00 AM so I’m wondering if it realizes that the light should be on when it does it’s checks and sends the command at 7:05, but again this is inconsistent at best.

I’ve tried turning the routines off, I’ve tried switching drivers and then back, I’ve tried checking for updates, I’ve tried soft power resetting, I’ve run this through three different AIs and they’ve all concluded that it’s most likely the recent Hub update.

I also just dumped logs yesterday after a recent power off so the devs can see that there’s no data. Looks like it’s receiving a command/switch off, but there’s no data to say where it comes from on my side.

Please advise.
