Hallo Zusammen,

wie sichere ich die Daten auf meinem Aeotec V3 am besten ab, sodass ich bei einem Defekt des Gerätes nichts verliere. Warum kann man bei euch kein Backup downloaden für den Fall. Man will doch nicht bei 0 beginnen und das Cloud-Backup kann angeblich fehlerheft oder unvollständiug sein. Ich stelle mir da was vor wie bei der Fritzbox.

Macht es mehr Sinn sich ein Ersatzgerät für den Fall in den Schrank zu legen oder macht es mehr Sinn ein Ersatzgerät in die Gruppe zu integrioeren, sodass im Erstfall nur eines defekt ist???

Daraufhin gibt es keine guten Informationen im Netz zu finden . Wäre aber wichtig zu wissen.

Hallo Chris, SmartThings sichert deinen V3-Hub automatisch in der Cloud. Sollte dein V3-Hub später ausfallen, kannst du deine SmartThings-Konfiguration auf einem neu gekauften oder zurückgesetzten V3-Hub wiederherstellen. Ich selbst habe diesen Vorgang noch nicht genutzt; meine Hubs funktionieren zuverlässig. Viele Grüße.

SmartThings automatically backs up your V3 hub to the cloud.
Should your V3 hub subsequently fail, you should be able to restore your SmartThings configuration to a newly purchased/reset V3 hub.
I have not used this process; my hubs have been reliable.

My opinion is it would be good to keep a second Aeotec V3 hub online but unused other than being connected to your account. That way it will be on the most current firmware.

Based on some posts by other users here I’m not sure I would make a Hub Group. At least some folks have seen somewhat random flips of the assigned primary hub.

As I ‘multi-admin’ my Matter devices with Google Home I go a step further and merge the thread network on my secondary hubs with my main hub so there is a second TBR available. So if I lose my main ST hub I should still have control, or if I mistakenly power off the hub Google can turn it back on again.

I have two main issues with hub groups:

  1. It hasn’t been explained how the integrity of the hub group is determined and why it matters. If I have two or more hubs on a wired ethernet or Wi-Fi, why do they have to be relatively close together? That’s the opposite of what I want.

  2. I feel a hub replace needs supervising so I want to be the person saying ‘go’. If I turn off automatic failover then what is the benefit of a hub group?
