2018 - Current: Custom Graber Virtual Cord Z-wave+ Shades & Bali Autoview Z-wave+ Shades

Any update on this? I don’t think I can receive PMs, can it be emailed to me?

I have a few exciting updates:

  1. New: Rechargeable Lithium Ion Battery Packs
They’re available as a configuration option for every shade as well as separately to use on older orders. The batteries have a charge of 3100mah and rated to last up to a year on shades with a size below 3600sqft and 6 - 8 months for shades under 7200sqft. Takes 5 hours to charge back to full.

  2. New: SmartHub for those who don’t plan on getting a z-wave hub such as ST and just want phone and Google Home/Amazon Alexa Control
This is more meant for your standard user who isn’t looking to automate everything and just want the full functionality of the shade and want it to work with Alexa or Google Home.

May I ask for the 11.3 firmware as well.
I’ve got 10 Bali Autoview roller shades running 11.02 firmware.

Thanks!

Also, just an update on lead times. The closer we get to Thanksgiving the longer the lead times will become. Currently its between 2 - 4 weeks. By Thanksgiving and based on the past few years, lead times can extend well into 6 weeks which would put delivery at the end of December/early January.

Did a search for OTA Firmware update, but only two topics came up. Is there a thread for troubleshooting or problems with installing the Firmware update? I’m on ver: 11.00 and cannot get the Z-Flash to “Add to Existing System” it only times out after 2 minutes of inactivity

Are you using the new app? If so switch to classic to add it. The new app only initializes the z-wave module on smartthings if you are adding/select a z-wave device to add. So choosing any z-wave device on the add new thing list would also work on the new app.

I’m using the classic app. I “add a thing” but it keeps looking for devices and the z-flash software times out

If you have any custom device handlers in the IDE, republish them it’s possible you have a stale device handler with a matching device fingerprint. People have seen that issue prevent device discovery.

Same here. Unable to find the PM button and it looks like 11.3 will also fix my problems with blinds that were already in my home when i bought it.

Not sure how but it started working when I switched from Classic to the new app and back to Classic, did a z-wave repair and it worked.

I have got one of the z-wave solar shades (ordered from @ZebraBlinds), that drains battery like crazy. Tried using different battery, and the last battery replacement lasts for 2 weeks, and it fails to lift this morning.

What would be a reasonable step to resolve this issues? (I have 10+ similar shades, and they do not have the same issues, just this particular shade is problematic)

I’ve been told this is finally the fix for the battery drain issue. I have 43 shades and random ones drain batteries in two days to 3 weeks and I’ve tried almost every battery on the market over the course of the past 3 years. I’m in the process of updating the firmware on our most used shades now to see if it’s going to resolve my problem.

@richardw A few things to check

  1. Are you using lithium AA batteries?
  2. What’s the firmware on the motor? Check if it’s 11.3 or above.
  3. Check if your hub is constantly polling the shade using the live logs. We’ve seen this happen to a few people and only way to fix was to completely remove the shade and re-add.

If all of that fails contact support.

@dpatrick
Once you do the upgrade, on the shades that are draining batteries you will need to do a full reset and make sure you use lithium batteries in the battery case when doing it. It should resolve any drain issues after that.

Thanks Neal. I have my instructions for a full reset and removal from ST.
Should I test the shades with the new firmware for a while before adding them back to ST?
I see you asked richardw about Lithium batteries, are those recommended now? When I started having this issue in 2016 rechargeable batteries were recommended and I replaced everything with those

Just to calibrate - does the frequency below consider as constant polling, or it looks reasonable to you?

What’s the trick to adding shades back to ST after excluding it? I’ve done some firmware updates, excluded shades and remotes, had to force remove one and can’t get any of them to add back to ST.
